One of the most striking attractions in the whole of Ghana is the Bruku Rock.
Located at Kwawu Tafo in the Eastern Region of Ghana, this towering rock offers amazing views of the Volta Lake and the Kwahu plateau. These rock projections are locally known as “Bruku” and “Boagyaa”, signifying the husband and wife respectively.
According to tradition, the local god, known as Bruku, watches over Kwawu and its citizens and its shrine can be found between Kwahu Tafo and Kotoso. The shrine priests are believed to exercise psychic and miraculous powers and can heal all types of diseases including infertility.
Please note: This whole area is sacred ground so walking on Bruku Hill or trying to climb the rock is sacrilegious and offends the locals. Tours can however be arranged and on these tours you can visit the shrine and climb to the foot of the Rock.
